For the best results, a semi-dense pack is usually the gold standard for Blackburn. You want to press the leaves down enough so there are no large air pockets, but not so much that you completely block the airflow. It handles heat very well, so don't be afraid to use three 25mm or 26mm cubes to get the bowl started. Once the smoke is thick and the flavor is popping, you can move your coals to the edge of the bowl or HMD to maintain a steady temperature.
